Breaking performance records together

Breaking performance records together

In 2019, Melbourne’s Monash University calculated the probability of finishing the marathon race within 2 hours was 10 % and that this would not be achieved any earlier than 2032!

On the 12th of October 2019, however, Eliud Kipchoge, the world-famous runner from Kenya “unofficially” set a new marathon record at 1 hour, 59 minutes en 40 seconds in Vienna. His race speed was nearly constant at 17 seconds per 100 meters!

Although unofficial, this sports record remains the first time man ran the marathon in less than two hours!! The record is unofficial because Eliud did not compete with a minimum of 3 other athletes. Instead, a number of fellow runners ran along with him to his support his attempt to break the existing record. The 34 year-old sportsman told reporters, “This shows the world what mankind can achieve when working and living together in peace.”

Statistics show that humans are lagging behind on targets to save planet Earth. Saving the planet seems like an impossible task for us and future generations to accomplish. But there is actually a good chance of reaching our common goal thirteen years earlier than expected if we perform together. Let’s go for it!
